What to do if your child develops COVID-19 symptoms

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19 they should remain at home.

Arrange for a COVID test via or by calling NHS 119 and inform the head teacher.

If their test is negative and they can return to school when they are well.

If their test is positive they will need to self-isolate for 10 days from the date when your symptoms start. All your household members must self-isolate for 10 days.

The date of symptom onset is day zero.

The symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

There are things you can do to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19:•

- wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
-  use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- wash your hands as soon as you get home
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.
