Some of our year 6 musicians attended a Music Enrichment Day at Woodbridge School. Mrs Rea said, "our pupils worked alongside three other primary schools and by the end of the day they had performed a new piece, learnt how to improvise and composed their own film score. They then treated the parents to a concert of what they had achieved during the day. Well done to all the children involved; you represented Kyson spectacularly! What a fantastic experience!"

Once again, Kyson were lucky enough to be invited to attend the Panathlon Challenge. The children had great fun completing a circuit of different activities that tested a wide range of skills in exciting ways. They were supported by a friendly, enthusiastic and kind team of organisers and Young Sports Leaders from Northgate High School, Ipswich. They’ve already said they can’t wait to go again next year!

These children certainly enjoyed travelling along Mrs Earthroll's Bear Hunt! They explored the swishy swashy grass, went splish splash through the water, squelch squerch through the mud, stumble tripped through the forest, blew through the snow and finally found a bear! They had a wonderful time as you can see, but you can only imagine how long the risk assessment Mr Gunson had to write was!

Kyson was lucky enough to be visited by amazing author Isabel Thomas. She inspired children and staff alike with her fantastic scientific knowledge and really helped give us an insight into how she brought her books to life. We were enthralled!

This term a number of Kyson families chose to take home one of our ‘mystery books’ to read together. The theme of this challenge - as you have no doubt guessed - was poetry from Joshua Seigal. Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to have Joshua Seigal visit the school and he is a firm favourite amongst our pupils! It's official. After weeks of campaigning, debating and canvassing, we have declared Kyson's first prime minister to be Lennie of the 'Fix Kyson's Problems and Change the World Party'! Last month, 10 strong parties formed, each with their own agendas and a year 5 or 6 leader. Since then, they have created posters, stickers, slogans and questionnaires. Each leader was even put through their paces with our very own version of Question Time, where they all stood up to scrutiny from both Speaker, Mr Gunson, and members of the audience. Kyson's General Election culminated in a vote yesterday, where every child had the opportunity to anonymously vote by ballot paper in the library. We are proud of every child who worked to create a party this year and we are very impressed with the amount of interest the entire school has shown in the proceedings.

Author, storyteller and comedian, James Campbell, joined Kyson once more for the second of his author visits today. He delighted the children with excerpts from his book series, 'The Funny Life', as well as his latest book: 'Don't Panic! We CAN Save The Planet'. He had the children in fits of giggles and really inspired them to write about whatever they have a passion for. James is no stranger to Kyson, as his son, now all grown, is a former student. We can't wait for his next visit!

Mrs Bloss, Mrs Chamberlain, Mrs Baldry and Mrs Bamford are EXTREMELY proud of all the Year 1 children for completing their phonics checks this week. They have all worked really hard to learn and remember their sounds and this has really shown in their results. Essential Letters and Sounds Well done to all our staff, who worked so very hard to support our children in their learning in such a fun and engaging way.

Year 6 was lucky to be involved in two dynamic drama workshops, led by Farlingaye drama teacher, Pippa Park and her talented sixth form students (including familiar faces, Sam and James!) The lively drama games were such fun and it has gotten our pupils really excited about continuing drama at high school. Our students found it really useful learning about the 3Cs of drama: concentration, co-operation and communication. They also enjoyed creating their own piratical actions and performing them in unison. The advice given to us today will really help bring our ensemble performances to life in Peter Pan next month!

A huge well done to all our hugely talented musicians who played in this morning’s brass assembly: Oscar, Isaac, Finn, William, Tobias, Tilly, Bryleigh, Holly, Layla and Bene! Not only did you show just how hard you’ve worked to master your instrument, but you treated us to such a wide range of songs! Thank you to our wonderful brass teacher, Miss Hellen, and to everyone who attended. When our year 6s leave us, there will be a number of instruments available for budding new musicians. She shoots! She scores! This week has seen not one, but two fantastic tournaments for our girls' football teams. On Thursday, our Under 8s scored tonnes of goals and it was wonderful to see how well they've gelled as a team. Today, our Under 10s team played magnificently at Ipswich Town Football Club, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 1. They have all represented Kyson so well with their great attitudes and determination. Very apt on this International Women's Day!

Bonsoir! Today we achieved our Gold Linguamarque Award, which recognises the outstanding languages provision at Kyson. Following on from our silver award in 2021 we have steadily worked towards the Gold objectives by developing links with a school in Amiens, carrying out transition work with Farlingaye, celebrating Kyson Community Languages on the 26th September and continuing to demonstrate the incredible level of French speaking and writing that Kyson pupils achieve. Bravo Kyson!

This afternoon, Seb, Lily, Harli, Hudson, Lee and Oliver represented Kyson in the Ipswich and South Suffolk School Games Primary Panathlon Challenge. There were beams all round the entire afternoon and they worked incredibly as a team, coming first place! They were thrilled with their gold medals but gobsmacked when they saw the trophy they had earned! Thank you ever so much to the organisers and to the young Sports Leaders from Northgate High School, Ipswich for their encouragement and ceaseless support.

This European Day of Languages, Year 3 coloured in greetings from many different countries and decorated their classroom with fun flags and warm welcomes! Mrs Napthine talked to the year about the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, across the corridor, Year 4 recited The Hungry Caterpillar - or should I say - La orgua muy hambrienta in Spanish. Just look at their beautiful artwork! Zeynep's mum kindly came in to tell them all about Turkish and Daisy's grandma shared her life in Indonesia. Thank you again to all our volunteers, who made this day so special.

Year 6 experienced their Evacuee Immersion Day today. They learned even more about the process of evacuation; from the fearful prospect of hearing the air raid sirens blare, travelling with their teacher to meet the Billeting Officers and being picked (or not!) by volunteer families. They used their skills of empathy to imagine what would be going through the children's minds and wrote a postcard 'home' to those left behind.
