Music Lessons

We are delighted to offer our students, from Year 2 upwards, the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. .  By signing your child up to music tuition  we very much hope that you will actively support your child to develop self-discipline in their practice and perseverance as they strive for excellence. We shall create opportunities for your child to showcase their skills to you and the whole school.

Woodwind and Strings

Woodwind and Strings are taught by teachers from the Suffolk Music Service.  

The lessons are 30 minutes per week and will be in groups of up to 4 pupils so that lessons can include ensemble pieces and group performances. Your child will receive a maximum of 34 lessons throughout the year.

Due to the school’s contribution and support for this scheme, Suffolk County Music Service are offering these lessons for £6.85 per 30-minute lesson. They also offer an instrument hire scheme, for which there is an additional charge (details are all in the link below).

Those in receipt of Free School Meals will have a 50% reduction to the fees and free instrument hire.

Brass

Ms Marian Hellen is our peripatetic brass teacher. 

Children have their weekly lessons brass during the school day, in a small group of no more than four pupils.  The cost per year is £180, unless your child is in receipt  of Free School Meals and then the school will pay for their tution fees.

The school undertakes to provide a minimum of 30 lessons during the academic year. If the number of lessons falls below this figure a refund or credit will be given. Credits or refunds will not be given if a child is absent for a lesson.

Ms Hellen require one term’s notice if your child decides to stop having tuition and any reimbursement will cover any remaining terms.

Instruments

We are fortunate to have a collection of instruments and in many cases we are able to provide an instrument for your child to learn on. 

If we are unable to loan your child an instrument you will need to hire one until a spare is available.  Suffolk Music Service offer the hire of instruments, full details can be found here, this is free if you child is eligible for free school meals.
