Intra-sport Competitions

We are delighted to share that all children across the school will be participating in our inaugural Kyson Primary School Intra-Sport Competitions throughout the academic year.

Our aim is to ensure the competitions are fun, competitive and inclusive so all children can succeed and feel proud of their achievements. It will also provide them with a variety of learning opportunities:

  • To develop their skills and abilities in a wide variety of sports;
  • To work collaboratively as part of a team alongside their peers;
  • To develop leadership skills;
  • To experience the intrinsic feeling of both winning and losing.

The school has been split into 4 house teams, with siblings being organised in the same team. The teams will be represented into different colours:

Yellow - Red - Blue - Green

For each competition, the houses will be named across a theme. For example, for our Cross Country Competition, each house was named after successful black long distance runners as part of celebrating Black History Month:

Kelly Holmes - Mo Farah - Haile Gabrselassie - Tirunesh Dibaba

For each competition, children will come into school wearing their PE kit and a t-shirt/sweatshirt in the colour of their house (or similar) for the day.

 Throughout the competitions, points for individuals and houses are given for achievements, with additional points will be given to individuals or teams for additional achievements and sportsmanship. Points will be collated and a house winner for each competition will be announced – please do keep an eye on the school website for results and photos of the events.

 Additionally, the winning trophy for each competition will be presented to the house captain and celebrated across the school.
