ABOUT THE Early Years Unit
From September, we have made the decision to adapt our approach to Early Years education at Kyson by combining our Nursery and Reception classes into one Early Years unit of two classes.
We have made this decision as we feel this will give the children greater consistency in staffing and maximise the use of the space we have in school. Traditionally, we have smaller numbers of children in Nursery during the autumn term which increases as the year goes on. By combining our staff team, we are planning an Early Years curriculum that will ensure all children are able to make progress from their starting points by using a key worker approach for Nursery children.
As is the case across all Woodbridge schools, and reflective of the national lower birth rates, we have received smaller Reception intakes in the last couple of years. The changes to our Early Years approach makes the school offer sustainable financially, whilst also creating excellent opportunities for the children. If you have any questions about this, Miss Francis (Early Years Lead) would be happy to help.
